TINY TATTOOS

DAINTY TATTOO TREND

There will always be a place for traditional tattoo designs and full-on sleeve tattoos but for 2018 it’s all about the tiny tattoo trend. Dainty, subtle, ‘look closely because you might just miss it’ tattoos.

What’s so appealing about these mini inking’s is that they make a great work-appropriate tattoo – a tiny star tattoo on your toe is more likely to spark compliments than concern from your boss! It also opens up new avenues about where to have your tattoo. The back of your neck, wrist, finger, behind your ear, even above the crease of your arm on your bicep are all hot spots for the miniature tattoos.

It doesn’t mean the tattoo designs are any less creative either. You can go for a simple outline tattoo or you could choose a finely detailed flower or leaf. People are even opting for dots, initials or even shapes and scribbles that are meaningless to the onlooker but meaningful for the owner. And because they’re so small people are even working with tattoo artists to break up designs so one tiny tattoo on your wrist complements another tiny tattoo on your elbow.

A great introduction to tattoo’s, they’re ideal if you’re asking yourself the question ‘will getting a tattoo hurt?’ plus they work for both men and women and aren’t as restricting to age. The thought of your parents getting a sleeve tattoo might not appeal but hey, a cheeky stripe or two on the inner ear – good idea. Personal and evocative, who needs friendship bracelets and mood rings when you can get a permanent memory inscribed on your skin which you can share with your loved ones?

Just make sure your tattoo artist is au fait with such delicate tattoo designs. While all tattooists need a steady hand, with such a small canvas there’s no room for mistakes! Once you’ve got that sorted, go forth and embrace the dainty tattoo.
